Nigella sativa is a flowering plant with small black seeds that are used as a spice and may have therapeutic benefits. It is also referred to as black cumin, black seed, or kalonji. It should not be confused with caraway seeds (Carum carvi) or regular cumin (Cuminum cyminum).
